In this lesson you will learn the benefits of Barre and the components that make up a class.

Welcome to Barre Teacher Training! We are so excited that you are here!

Benefits of Barre: Barre class uses elements of ballet, pilates, yoga, and strength training for an overall complete workout for the entire body.  Barre class provides exercises that build strength and stability, increase flexibility, improve range of motion, and increase endurance.

Barre is an energizing, heart pumping, body moving workout utilizing the barre, weights, ball, ring, and floor exercises, set to fun, energizing music.

The benefits of strength training through barre

In barre class, students will strengthen the entire body either by using their own weight, as in planks or plies, and by using equipment or exercises that creates resistance, such as the pilates ring, ball, using hand weights.

The barre program utilizes compound movement as well as isolation movement.  Compound movement is when one uses multiple muscle groups at the same time. Isolation movement is an exercise that only targets a certain muscle or muscle group. The benefits are building muscle specifically in one area and being able to do more repetitions.

Strengthening the body has so many benefits.  Increasing muscle mass helps prevent muscle loss, or slows the process of muscle loss as one ages, increases bone density, which prevents bone loss as one ages, as well as creates stability for the entire body.  Strength training also benefits your balance, coordination, and posture. This also prevents injury long term.

Strength training improves overall wellness.  It can boost energy and improve mood due to the elevation of endorphins after exercise.   It helps maintain low blood pressure and keep the heart in shape.  Strength training also builds confidence, self-esteem, and body awareness.
